Lunch and sunset above Mida Creek

A panoramic restaurant on a coral rock at the mouth of Mida Creek, Watamu. Open to day visitors, reached by road or by boat.

Where we are

Right at the mouth of Mida Creek

The restaurant sits on a coral rock 40 metres above the water, right at the mouth of Mida Creek, the vast tidal creek that cuts inland behind Watamu. On one side the Indian Ocean; on the other, mile after mile of ancient mangrove forest and shallows that change colour with the tide.

It is a view you cannot get anywhere else in Watamu. Nearly 360 degrees, from sunrise over the ocean to sunset across the creek and the savannah beyond, with kingfishers and crab plovers working the sandbanks below you.

Most of our guests come for the day. You do not need to be staying with us to eat here.

Getting here

Arrive across the creek by boat

The best way to reach us is on the water. With advance booking, our boat collects you from the sandy shore at Lichthaus, Temple Point Resort in south Watamu, directly across Mida Creek, for a short and rather beautiful ride over to the restaurant.

Prefer to drive? Come by car or taxi through Matzangoni village on the Mombasa Road between Kilifi and Gede. Follow the signboards and you will reach our free parking in a few minutes, just 4.5 km from the tarmac.

Boat transfers must be arranged in advance. Mention it when you book and we will confirm your pick-up time with the tide.
